DC The Descendant
The point opposite the Ascendant — the kind of relationship and partner you attract.
The Descendant is the point exactly opposite the Ascendant — the sign that was setting in the west at the moment of your birth. It marks the cusp of the 7th House, the house of deep relationships: partnership, associations, lasting bonds.
It describes what you look for in others, what draws you in, and sometimes what you project onto your partners. Its sign completes the Ascendant: where the Ascendant says "me," the Descendant says "us."
In traditional astrology, the 7th House — and therefore the Descendant — concerns partners, but also declared adversaries. Its ruler tells us about the nature of these relationships: harmonious, demanding, transformative.
Because it is always 180° from the Ascendant, the Descendant shares its ruler with the 7th House. Planets in conjunction with the Descendant — or present in the 7th House — give strong indications about the type of relationships lived and the characteristics of the partners chosen.
